Afro-Butoh workshop with Tebby W.T. Ramasike took place in Berlin in the end of February 2015. During 4 sunny days our dancing bodies were undergoing transformations, creating realities of our dreams and resonating with strong African vibes.
Thank you, dear Tebby and all the participants!

The solo “IN SEARCH OF A SOUL: A Blind Man’s Cry … the appeal” which Tebby W.T. Ramasike performed in Berlin in February, was premiered at the Butoh Dance Festival at Espace Culturel Bertin Poirée de TENRI, in Paris, France, in 2011. The piece is the 3rd part of a collective dance journal in the frames of the ongoing interactive, multidisciplinary project, under the work title, “WALKING THROUGH: A Journey … A Memory … A Recollection … The Meeting”.
After an appeal of the gods/ancestors to a man, he is commanded to take a ritualistic journey to undergo a cleansing initiation, in order to heal the suffering and the pain of the spirit of his people. He is the chosen one to symbolically represent the chief and the society.

It may come to a tradition… Last year we have posted a poetic newsletter of a dancer, choreographer and art director Yumiko Yoshioka, who usually spends winter months far away from Berlin, in her homeland, Japan. This year we cannot avoid sharing it again – intimate and at the same time global, embracing the world in empathy and compassion. Below you will also find information of this summer Butoh dance -eXchange and Performance Festival, co-directed by Yumiko Yoshioka.
I hope this mail finds you well with a joy and a fresh start for 2015.
I am now in Tokyo, being busy with this and that,
yet enjoy the stay in my hometown,
meeting with my friends and family,
eating and cooking Japanese food,
walking and training in a park nearby,
endless discovery in my daily life.
